Table Mountain Cableway to close temporarily for annual maintenance

· 15 Jun 2026

Visitors planning a trip to Table Mountain between 27 July and 9 August 2026 are advised that the Cableway will be temporarily closed for its annual maintenance shutdown and is expected to reopen on Monday, 10 August 2026, weather permitting.

The temporary closure allows for essential inspections, testing and maintenance work to be carried out, ensuring the Cableway continues to operate according to the highest international safety standards. During this period, all facilities and commercial operations at the Upper and Lower Stations will be closed to the public.

While hiking routes on Table Mountain will remain open, hikers will need to return down the mountain on foot as no cable car operations will take place during this period. Visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and monitor weather conditions before setting out.
