SATSA’s latest survey offers a timely snapshot of how the Middle East conflict is affecting inbound travel to Southern Africa. While the sector is not in panic mode, 80.6% of respondents reported some level of impact, with booking cancellations (50.7%), a slowdown in new enquiries (48.5%) and delayed booking decisions (42.7%) emerging as the clearest warning signs.
FIT and independent leisure are currently the most exposed segment, while Europe remains the key watch market. The findings point to a sector grappling less with destination risk itself and more with access, affordability and traveller confidence, making this a must-read for members tracking near-term booking trends and market sentiment.
